The Bismarck Horse Club Playdays are a favorite event among the BHC members. Taking place at our very own facility in Bismarck, ND, these fun shows are a way for family and friends to gather with their horses for a day of friendly competition and learning.
Put on once each month from May through September, the Playdays are an affordable way for adults and children alike to show off their horses, their riding abilities, or maybe even pick up a few tips along the way. Yet another great appeal to these local shows is there are five age divisions so you know you are competing at your own level, it’s always more fun when you are among your peers.
The Playday committee puts in a lot of hard work to find qualified judges so you know you are getting your money’s worth. What’s more is that each competitor has the chance to walk away with some great prizes at the end of each show. Aside from winning ribbons and prizes, you can also qualify for great year-end awards given out at our annual Fall Membership Meeting.

We tried a new system for day-end awards in 2009.
It allowed more participants access to prizes and eliminated duplication of prizes for our winners.

Class format
The Playdays offer a full range of English, Western performance, and speed events. Everything from classes over fences to western pleasure and fun game events are available so you know you’ll always be able to find your very own niche class.
These shows are a great place to strut your stuff, get your feet wet, or just practice.
Age divisions
Something the Bismarck Horse Club loves to brag about is the fact that we attract enough people to be able to host four different age groups and still have enough entries in each class to make it worth it. We use January 1 of the current year to determine age so you won’t have to worry about having to change age groups in the middle of the year.
Age divisions are as follows:
- 7 & under - Walk/Trot
- 8 - 11 - Childrens
- 12 - 14 - Juniors
- 15 - 18 - Seniors
- 19 & up - Adult
Fees
The best part about the Playdays is that they are one of the few family entertainment opportunities left that are affordable. The entire family is able to come down for the whole day without breaking the bank. What’s even better is that you can get things in return.
Walk/Trot - $10 all day fee
All other divisions -$5/class* or $25 all day
Exhibition entries - $5 / class / horse
